DAY 19: Friday, December 1. HOBART TO PORT ARTHUR
We started the day at the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA). The "experience" began with a ride on the museum's ferry from the Hobart waterfront. The old art included a few Egyptian, Roman, Greek, and Byzantine antiquities. A mummy was displayed in a special room and there were a few other rooms like this that required a reservation on their app to access. The museum is underground and has some unusual architecture. In one area there is a waterfall-like installation that spells words with the falling water.
After the museum visit we picked up a rental car and headed for Port Arthur. On the way we stopped in the town of Richmond. Richmond is known for its colonial architecture. We took a walk through the town and then continued on to Port Arthur.
